Infant Plaintiff is now four years of age
DESCRIPTION OF CASE
Defendant Pediatrician failed to diagnose Hirschsprung's disease in then one-year-old Infant-Plaintiff that presented with constipation, abdominal distention, diarrhea, feeding intolerance and vomiting over the first eight months of life.
DAMAGES
As a result of the Pediatrician's failure to diagnose Hirschsprung's disease, Infant-Plaintiff suffered a ruptured large colon requiring removal of the entire large colon. Following surgery, Infant-Plaintiff made a complete recovery, lives a full and active life and only requires routine pediatric care.
SETTLEMENT
The matter settled for $2,300,000, which was the entirety of the policy of insurance available. The proceeds of the settlement were utilized to purchase a structure that will compensate Infant Plaintiff $18,074,933.08 over the course of his lifetime.
