CHONDROMALACIA
Chondromalacia can affect simple, daily activities such as squatting and climbing stairs.
Chondromalacia typically occurs in young, otherwise healthy adults. However, the condition can also develop in older adults as a result of arthritis of the knee joint. Construction workers are at risk for chondromalacia due to the amount of pressure exerted on their knees. If you are a construction worker who has developed chondromalacia, fill out our free case evaluation form to find out if you are eligible for compensation.
Chondromalacia occurs when the undersurface of the kneecap, also known as the patella, becomes irritated. The patella is covered with a layer of smooth cartilage that normally glides effortlessly when the knee is bent. Unfortunately, for some people, the kneecap rubs against one side of the knee joint, which results in irritation of the cartilage surface.
Most individuals with chondromalacia report increased pain when ascending or descending stairs. Other symptoms of chondromalacia include:
- Knee stiffness
- Dull, aching pain in the front of the knee
- Knee pain after sitting for extended periods of time
- A grinding or grating sensation when extending the knee
Chondromalacia can result in difficulty performing simple activities such as squatting and climbing stairs. Unfortunately, for many construction workers, this can prevent them from performing routine job tasks.
If you have developed chondromalacia while working on a construction site, fill out our free case evaluation form. Our construction accident attorneys will strive to recover the maximum compensation possible for your suffering.
