Fall Prevention: Accident Prevention Guide
Falls are the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry. A number of factors that can lead to falls include unstable working surfaces, misuse or failure to use fall protection gear, and human error. Research has shown that utilizing guardrails, safety nets and other fall protection gear can prevent hundreds of injuries and deaths from falls.
Solutions:
- Use aerial lifts or elevated platforms
- Equip guardrail systems with toeboard and warning lines
- Install control line systems to prevents falls from the edges of floors and roofs
- Cover floor holes
- Use safety nets or body harnesses
- Remove unnecessary equipment from working/walking surfaces
