Plaintiff was a 35 year old union laborer at the time of the accident.
DESCRIPTION OF CASE
The accident occurred at the Newton Creek Water Treatment Plant renovation project in Brooklyn, New York. At the time of the accident Plaintiff was a union laborer working on the rooftop of an electrical building. As Plaintiff was attempting to remove a piece of steel from the roof, he fell backwards and was impaled on vertical uncapped rebar.
DAMAGES
As a result of the accident, Plaintiff suffered a penetrating wound causing injuries to his gastro-intestinal tract, requiring multiple surgeries. Plaintiff also suffered injuries to his lumbar spine resulting in spinal fusion surgery.
SETTLEMENT
The jury returned an award of $6,793,881.17.
